Doomsday
Type:
HP: 170
Atk: 150
Def: 115
SpA: 100
SpD: 100
Spe: 15
Ability: Battle Armor / Moxie
Tier: Fundex OU
Doomsday is the epitome of a slow attacker that can take hits. With its 150 base Attack, huge 170 base HP and 115/100 in defenses, he does not easily go down like the cliche sweeper and it gets a lot of physical attacks on top of that. Its Rock typing gives it some hindering weaknesses though.
"GO TO HELL!"
Doomsday @Leftovers / Chesto Berry
Ability: Battle Armor / Moxie
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Atk / 12 Def / 238 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Dragon Tail
- Stone Edge
- Fire Punch / Rest
A basic lead set, except it also has Dragon Tail to damage the foe's team with the laid down Stealth Rock. Doomsday should be able to Dragon Tail quite some times because of his great HP and defenses. You might want to have Rest and a healing berry to Dragon Tail for a longer time, but you will have to get rid of your coverage. Mind that if you use this in Sandstorm, you might want to adjust your EVs to the boosted Special Defense.
"GAGAGAGAGAGAGAA!"
Doomsday @Life Orb / Leftovers
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 136 HP / 252 Atk / 120 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Stone Edge / Head Smash
- Sucker Punch
- Fire Punch
- Wild Charge / Ice Punch / Swords Dance / Bulk Up
A sweeping set that doesn't aim to be fast, but to be durable. If Doomsday gets in a kill, Moxie raises his Attack stat even further and will make Doomsday get closer and closer to being unstoppable. You can choose to use Head Smash over Stone Edge for more damage, but recoil. Ice Punch and Wild Charge is your choice, too; Ice Punch is to hit Grass and Ground types hard, to which Doomsday is weak, and Wild Charge for Water types, to which he is weak as well. You can also choose for Swords Dance or Bulk Up, losing coverage to boost your stats into insanity.
Other Options
X-Scissor, Rock Polish, Taunt
X-Scissor is super effective on Psychic, Dark and Grass, but you should already have Fire Punch for Grass and Sucker Punch for Psychic. It can still come in handy for Dark types or Psychic types that don't go for offense.
Rock Polish boosts Doomsday's low Speed to a bit higher, but its Speed is so low it doesn't really work out. This doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a try though. You can also use Autotomize for this, which lowers Low Kick and Grass Knot's damage, but makes Heavy Slam and the not really mattering Heat Crash stronger.
Taunt can shut down walls trying to stall you, if they are even able to.
Checks and Counters
Because it is weak to Fighting, the many powerful Fighting types out there can hit Doomsday hard with their STAB Fighting attacks. Minoriko can stall its attacks and use Giga Drain and Leech Seed to drain its health away, but has to watch out for Ice Punch. Stealth can shrug off Doomsday's attacks with his 140 Defense and wear it down with Guts and Iron Head, although he has to look out for a boosted Fire Punch. Lastly, like she can against all other physical attackers, Yuugi can switch into Doomsday and make it a doomsday for him instead with Close Combat or KO in Three Steps.
